The game show 'Jeopardy!' is taking a bit of heat since ruling a young teen boy's answer incorrect, because of a spelling mistake.

Thomas Hurley III, who attends middle school in Newtown, Connecticut, clearly knew the correct answer during Wednesday night's broadcast, but was deemed incorrect because of the technicality. Here's the clue:

Hurley's answer: "What is the Emanciptation Proclamation?"

Host Alex Trebek initially thought the 12-year old had given the correct response, but quickly took a cue from producers who ruled against the boy because of the extra "t" in "Emancipation."

The game show, which is featuring the smartest kids from all around the country on its annual Kids Week competition, has taken plenty of criticism on its Facebook page, and from bloggers far and wide.

Take a look at the video. Do you think the producers' decision was too harsh?
