SVSU Teaming Up With Meijer To Give Vaccines To High Schoolers
Saginaw Valley State University announced that they are teaming up with Meijer to give high schoolers the Covid-19 vaccine.
Now that everyone in Michigan 16 years of age or older are eligible to get the vaccine, it makes perfect sense for the two businesses to partner up. SVSU will host the vaccination event, while the Meijer pharmacy will give the Pfizer vaccine. The event it happening on Wednesday April 21st, from 10am to 6pm. You must register to get into the vaccination event, and you can get registered here.

The second dose of the vaccine will be administered on May 12th for anyone getting the vaccine this Wednesday. If you are between the ages of 16 and 18, they are asking that you bring a parent or guardian with you. There is no cost for the vaccine, and you can get all of the details on how to get signed up here.
SVSU reached out to more than 50 area high schools for the event, but there is still room if you would like to register for the event tomorrow.
There have been plenty of vaccination events throughout our area recently, but this one is unique because of who it targets. The focus of the vaccines have been primarily on older people in the beginning, but that is changing now.
The new variants in Michigan seem to be spreading faster with school aged kids, which has caused massive amounts of students missing school due to quarantine requirements. If the vaccine can help keep kids in the classroom, then it will make a huge difference on how we fight the pandemic as a whole.
