Michael Garcia, a waiter at Laurenzo's Restaurant in Houston is being dubbed a hero, and feeling plenty of internet love this week, after he refused to serve a customer who made rude comments about a special-needs boy at an adjacent table.

Five-year-old Milo Castillo has Down Syndrome, and he and his family are regular customers at the eatery.

When the d-bag patron moved his family away from the Castillos' table, and made a disparaging remark about the boy, the waiter said his personal feelings kicked in.

"I heard the man say, 'Special needs children need to be special somewhere else,'" Garcia said.

Garcia then refused to serve the party, and they left.

The boy's parents didn't know what had happened until after the fact.

"I was really impressed that Michael would stand up for Milo," said Kim Castillo. "He really doesn't know us … he stood up for Milo just because it was the right thing to do."

Garcia's employer stands behind his actions, and support from the internet community has been overwhelming.
