Royal Baby’s Name Revealed in Instagram Debut [PHOTOS]
The wait is finally over. Prince Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have named their first child Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
Their son was born Monday morning and the pair waited until today to announce the name via their official Instagram account along with a picture of the newest member of the royal family meeting Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. Also shown in the photo was Meghan mother Doria Ragland.
The name is a far cry from the oddsmaker favorites of Alexander, Arthur, and Philip with some even speculating the Spencer could be an option as a nod to Prince Harry's late mother Lady Diana. The new little bundle of joy became the 7th in line to the British throne the instant he was born, but he won't be called "his royal highness," as the rules around the granting of royal titles were tightened up about 100 years ago.
Earlier in the day the royal couple introduced their baby boy to the world in St. George’s Hall, where they had their wedding reception last May, but declined to divulge the name of the child. During the photo op, the couple smiled and thanked everyone for the kindness and wishes. No world yet on how the couple chose the name or the significance of the non-traditional choice, but one can only speculate the pair are possibly fans of "Riverdale". Just a thought.
