There’s something magical about fall in Michigan. The crisp air, the vibrant colors of the changing leaves, and the excitement of harvest season create the perfect backdrop for one of the state’s most cherished traditions, heading to the apple orchard.

From cider mills to pumpkin patches, Michigan’s apple orchards offer an autumn experience like no other, and one of the state's most charming orchards is in the running to be named the 'Best Apple Orchard in America'.

As part of their annual 10Best Readers Choice Awards, the USA Today team is in search of the very best the country has to offer when it comes other the apple orchard game.

"The United States' first apple orchard was planted in 1625 near Boston's Beacon Hill. Today, there are more than 25,000 growers producing apples across all 50 states, according to the U.S. Apple Association. That's more than 255 million bushels of apples each year!", USA Today said.

The experts have narrowed it down to just 20 apple orchards from across the United States and have put it up to the masses to vote.

Michigan's own Knaebe's Apple Farm (aka Knaebe's Mmmunchy Krunchy Apple Farm) is hoping to take the title or at least find itself in the Top 10, and we think it has an excellent chance.

The quaint family-owned orchard in Rogers City is everything fall in Michigan should be, and then some. Here's what USA Today had to say about the Michigan-made nominee;

"...there's tons to do in addition to picking apples. There are wagon and barrel train rides for the kids, a petting zoo, games like horseshoes and cornhole, a barn that boasts some of the best pizza and fresh hard cider in Michigan, a bakery, and, of course, plenty of u-pick apples and pumpkins. This is also one of the best leaf-peeping orchards around, with a riot of colors on display around the start of October."

With all these offerings, it’s no surprise that Knaebe’s Apple Farm is in the running for Best Apple Orchard in America. Whether you’re a local or a visitor, this Rogers City treasure should be at the top of your fall bucket list. Be sure to cast your vote for Knaebe's here.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.

Keep reading to see if your favorite beach town made the cut.
