2 Michigan Towns Named Best in America For a Colorful Fall Visit
As the crisp autumn air settles in and those long days we've been enjoying all summer grow shorter, trees across the country are getting ready for their big show. Fall foliage enthusiasts know it’s time to chase the vibrant colors that transform the landscape.
The magic of fall is undeniable, with trees bursting into fiery red, gold, and orange hues, creating breathtaking scenery, especially here in Michigan. You've got to admit, fall is one season Michigan knows how to do right, and Country Living agrees.
The popular magazine released a list of the Best Fall Towns in the U.S. for Fall Foliage. These places scattered across America offer spectacular views that only Mother Nature could paint this time of year, with a little added bonus of fun swirled in.
"No fall would be complete without pumpkin picking, apple treats, cozy sweaters, and, of course, gorgeous foliage. Mother Nature puts on a breathtaking autumnal show year after year, which is why so many rightfully call fall their favorite season", Country Living said.
Somehow, Country Living was able to narrow down the list to 55 amazing towns that do fall up right, and two of them happen to be in Michigan.

Securing a spot at #10 is the charming town of Munising, located in the Upper Peninsula. The area is famous for its waterfalls and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. In the fall, the landscapes transform into a painter’s palette, with fiery reds, golden yellows, and brilliant oranges lighting up the cliffs and forests.
"Nestled on the southern shore of Lake Superior, this Upper Peninsula town's beautiful waterfalls get a bright makeover once fall rolls around", Country Living said.
Meanwhile, Ontonagon, a quiet town nestled along Lake Superior, took the #33 spot. The area offers breathtaking views of the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. The park’s hiking trails provide a front-row seat to the incredible display of fall colors, especially when paired with the scenic vistas of Lake of the Clouds.
"It may be known for skiing come winter, but visit this town early to see the eye-catching Porcupine Mountains in all their foliage-covered glory", mentioned Country Living.
For nature lovers, photographers, or anyone looking for a serene autumn getaway, Munising and Ontonagon are considered two of the best places in America for the perfect escape to immerse yourself in the season’s beauty.
