Prisoner Mistakenly Released From Jail is Believed to be Holed Up in Michigan

Authorities in Michigan are searching for a prisoner who was mistakenly released from an Ohio jail back in March and believe he is hiding out in the Detroit area.

A Laundry List of Charges

Authorities say 21-year-old Christopher Bibbs Jr. had been serving a four to 10-year sentence in the Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer since May of last year on charges related to a carjacking in Wayne County.

Earlier this year, he was transported to a jail in Warren County, Ohio in order to appear in court on unrelated charges. Warren County is approximately halfway between Dayton and Cincinnati.

Deputies in Ohio then mistakenly released Bibbs from custody on March 23. He left the facility on foot and has been missing ever since.

Prisoner is Suspected to be in Detroit

According to Detroit's WDIV-TV, Michigan Department of Corrections officials believe Bibbs could be hiding out in the Detroit area. Officials have been searching for the man since he was erroneously released but have been unsuccessful in their attempt to find him. His family is said to be cooperating with authorities.

Bibbs is described as 5' 10" tall, weighing 160 pounds and having black hair and brown eyes. He is reported to have a tattoo on his life forearm that reads "Only the strong survive."

Anyone with information about Bibbs' whereabouts is asked to call 911, but urged not to approach him as he could be dangerous.
