Popular Wine & Food Show Segment on Traverse City to Debut
Traverse City and its wineries are about to go international!
We told you last year that the popular show Wine First was heading to Michigan to highlight the incredible wine region we have in Traverse City. The Norwegian-based production company responsible for the series headed to northern Michigan to shoot an installment for the upcoming season. The team spent a week visiting some of northern Michigan's best wineries, and now the show is set to debut.
Traverse City will celebrate the international nod with a special premiere at the State Theatre. The program will be shown for the first time Wednesday, June 14th. The show is free with doors opening at 6 pm, with show time scheduled for 6:30 pm. After the showing, there will be an open forum with a panel of other local participants talking about the episode. Then the episode will debut on PBS stations across the country next month. It will also be shown in select areas internationally.
Wine First features two European sommeliers Liora Levi and Maya Samuelson and food enthusiast Yolanda Ano to evaluate wines and find fresh local ingredients for a dish to pair with the wines. During filming the hosts sampled wines from Chateau Chantal, Brys Estate, and Black Star Farms. They then selected one wine from each and had the Executive Chef of Grand Traverse Resort and Spa, Auston Minnich, prepare a meal around the wine using local ingredients.
