Oxford High School Students Walk Out in Support of Uvalde

Nearly six months after a teenage gunman took the lives of four students at Oxford High School, students walked out of class today in support of Uvalde, Texas.

On November 30 of last year, a 15-year-old gunman who was a sophomore at Oxford High School killed four teenage students and injured seven other people. Numerous school threats and other acts of violence at schools across the United States have taken place in the months following the tragedy at Oxford Hight School.

Students at Oxford Stand Up for School Safety

As a show of support for the victims, victims' families, and the citizens of Uvalde, Texas, students at Oxford High School marched peacefully today. The students are said to have formed the walkout to demonstrate the importance of school safety.

At noon today (5/26), members of the student body at Oxford marched out of class, paraded through the school's hallway and onto the football field.

Once there, they formed the letter 'O' in the center of the field before transforming into a giant 'U' in support to honor the 19 students and two adults killed in a mass shooting on Tuesday. The 18-year-old shooter who murdered those 21 people was fatally shot by police.
