It's all possible because of a grant from the Department of Agriculture.

The Owosso school district applied for a Federal Community Eligibility Provision Grant, which will provide free breakfast AND lunch for students, which comes out to about $5 per day.

Before this, the district was only able to provide breakfast and lunch to kids in kindergarten through 8th grade. If all the students take advantage of this program, it would mean 6,600 meals per day through an entire year. Not only that, but it's a four-year grant, so it's the "gift that keeps on giving."

This is sooooo important. I know that it's strange for a lot of us to comprehend, but there are a LOT of kids who ONLY eat at school. And now, they don't have to worry about two of their three daily meals.
