An Oakland County man who didn't go through all the trouble of scratching off a Michigan Lottery instant ticket has cashed in on a sizable jackpot.

Let's face it, sometimes instant scratch-off tickets are a big commitment. Reading and understanding the directions, scratching off all the symbols and amounts to see if you've won anything -  it's a giant pain in the a$$, right?

Sure, some tickets are easier to understand than others, but depending on the complexity of the game, oftentimes I just scratch off the barcode and head for the party store to use their scanner.

Oakland County Man Skips Right to the Barcode.

A 36-year-old player in Oakland County chose the path of least resistance, buying a $300,000 Extraordinaire Instant ticket and scanning the ticket's barcode before leaving the store.

He tells the Michigan Lottery he purchased the ticket at the BP station on Orchard Lake Rd. in Farmington Hills.

"I play scratch-off tickets here and there," he said. "I got a message to file a claim at the Lottery office, so I finished scratching it off when I got home."

The player, who chose to remain anonymous, went on to say that he plans to use his winnings to buy a home and start a business.
