A Michigan Infant Was Killed in Car Crash
You never know what might happen when you pull into a gas station. This week, people at a Speedway in Flint Township were confronted with something nobody expects to see during an ordinary afternoon, gunfire in the parking lot. A 19-year-old man is in the hospital after being shot Thursday afternoon according to MLive.
What Led to the Flint Township Shooting?
Flint Township police were called to the Speedway on West Bristol Road shortly before 1:15 p.m. Thursday, October 8. When officers arrived, they found the 19-year-old suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was treated at the scene before being taken to a local hospital. The good news is that he's listed in stable condition.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident involving people who knew each other. According to police, an argument over a drug transaction escalated, leading to the shooting. The suspects fled in a vehicle and have not been publicly identified.
Police Say the Speedway Was Not Involved
Police also want to make it clear that even though this happened in the Speedway parking lot, the shooting had nothing to do with the business itself or its operations.
The investigation is still underway, with detectives reviewing evidence and working to gather more information. Flint Township police were assisted by Michigan State Police and the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.
A Familiar Stop Along West Bristol Road
Personally, I drive by that Speedway, just off I-75 near the GM Complex, almost every day. It's one of those places you pass without giving it a second thought. I certainly wouldn't expect to hear about a shooting there at one o'clock in the afternoon.
It's unsettling to think something like this could happen in a place so many people visit as part of their daily routine. Let alone right in the middle of the day.
