Step Aside Fashion, Vogue Magazine Showing Love to Northern MI

Prada, Gucci, The Hamptons, Paris, and Northern Michigan. What do they all have in common? They've all had a spread in Vogue magazine.

Northern Michigan is featured in a new spread in Vogue magazine this month putting it in the world of high-society fashion and some pretty "boujee" destinations The Vogue article, called "Northern Michigan is Ready for the Summer Spotlight", appears in the latest issue and highlights all that's wonderful about the top of the mitten.

The author of the flattering piece is Christine Chitnis, who herself knows firsthand the beauty of northern Michigan and its endless array of summertime activities that warrants the yearly northern migration up I75.

"With more miles of shoreline than any of the lower 48 states, Michigan often flies under the radar when it comes to popular summertime destinations; though Midwesterners, including my family, have long been in the know. During my early childhood, we bounced between rental cottages before settling on the shores of Torch Lake—a deep, clear, turquoise-hued body of water often voted one of the most beautiful lakes in the world—where we still spend summers to this day", Chitnis writes.

The piece highlights many of the region's unique shopping areas, a wide variety of restaurants, wineries, special events, and of course those places like the Sleeping Bear Dunes that make Northern Michigan so special.

Chitnis subtly compares the area to the noteworthy east coast vacation towns of Newport, Nantucket, and even the Cape, but even better in a casually elegant way. Although she sings her praises of the pride of Michigan, she is quick to note she doesn't want to give away all of our "secrets' saying,

"It’s easy to feel reluctant when sharing the secrets of Northern Michigan with the wider world, though between a host of high-profile restaurant openings, new hospitality concepts, and a wine scene that’s attracting national recognition there’s never been a better time to visit".
