UPDATE: Matt Pieper, the news anchor who make the comments live on the air, was fired from News 12 as a direct result of this incident.

When you work in the media field, be it radio or television, you are usually near equipment that broadcasts live to air. It's a good idea to refrain from doing or saying anything in front of the microphone or camera in general because you never know when it could be on.

Normally, employees know whether they are on the air or not, but these guys apparently didn't. During what was supposed to be a commercial break, for some reason the commercials never played and viewers in the Bronx saw their news team behind the scenes.

How bad could it possibly get? One news anchor drops the f-bomb, slams parents that don't walk their kids to school, and then went after people who are on government assistance all their lives.

I'm sure he didn't know he was on the air, but does that make what he said okay?  If you were his boss, what would you do?
