Elite Education: This is Michigan’s Most Expensive High School
Let's face it, education isn't cheap. While we expect high-cost tuition for college, some high schools across the country rival the cost of a major university, and that includes Michigan.
The experts at ALOT Education took on the task of searching out those high schools with the highest tuition in each state. The list highlights those schools with the highest price tag for just one year of education and what they found may surprise you and shock your bank account.
"These days, the average tuition for a public college in the United States is about $20,000 per year, equaling about $60,000 after four years. However, what if we told you that this $60,000 for public university education would not even be able to pay for one year at the most expensive high school in the United States?", they said.
When you think of the most expensive high schools in the state, your mind might jump to bustling cities like Detroit or posh suburbs like Birmingham or Bloomfield Hills. When it comes to the priciest high school in Michigan, you won't find a landscape of city vibes, but more of a connection with nature.
According to ALOT Education, the most expensive high school in Michigan is The Leelanau School in Glen Arbor. The boarding school for 9th through 12th grade sits on a stunning 42-acre campus with all the beauty you would expect "up north". Here's what ALOT Education has to say about the school founded in 1929;
"The Leelanau School in Michigan takes a unique spin on the classroom and takes everything that it can outdoors for the students to see what they are learning with real-life applications. They emphasize a strong student-teacher connection as well with very small class sizes, so the teachers can tailor what they are learning to each student, so they learn the subject better."
So how much will this stellar education cost you? Plan on spending $69,575 a year for full-time boarding. Day students still have a hefty price tag running about $34,790 per year. The school has 41 students in grades 9-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 3 to 1.
