Julie Fitzgerald, from Rockford, Illinois, noticed something different about her son's eye...after looking at a photo of him in her phone.

She had read a story about how a white eye instead of the typical "red eye" in photos with a flash could indicate cancer. Her husband brushed it off, but Julie decided to consult a doctor. She said that she had a feeling in the "pit" of her stomach.

Mom's intuition, maybe?

She took her son Avery to a doctor, where they informed her that tumors were covering about 75% of his eye. Surgeons removed his eye, and he'll be fitted with a prosthetic eye when he gets older. Doctors said that, if they would've waited longer, the tumors could've spread to his brain.

Here's the full story from WNEM-TV 5 News.

Not gonna lie, I'm super squeamish about eyes. Anything with eyeballs grosses me out, so I'm surprised I even mustered up the courage to type this. But I thought it was an amazing story about mother's intuition. So glad this sweet little boy will be okay!
