Michigan Woman Looks to Win Big on ‘Jeopardy’ Tonight [VIDEO]

A Michigan woman will take a spot on the 'Jeopardy' stage tonight, in an attempt to defeat two contestants from California.

Laura Portwood-Stacer is an author and editor, originally from Livonia, Michigan. Ironically she recently moved to Los Angeles, which means all three of tonight's contestants on the long-running game show currently reside in the Golden State.

Tonight's competition is the last to be hosted by the show's Executive Producer, Mike Richards, pictured above. Beginning Monday (3/8), Journalist Katie Couric will sit behind the lectern which was occupied by Alex Trebek for nearly 37 years. After her two-week stint as guest host, Dr. Mehmit Oz will step into the role before surrendering to Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers on April 5.

According to Mlive, something Portwood-Stacer really misses about Michigan is the food.

“You can’t get pasties out here or anywhere else really,” she says. “I also used to eat a lot of Hungry Howie’s while in school. That’s not out here, either. I haven’t been back to Michigan in a while because of the pandemic, but my parents still live in Livonia and I have a lot of friends that still live there.”

Fans of the show got to see a surprise ending Wednesday (3/3) night when all three contestants gave incorrect responses in Final Jeopardy. If you missed it, I won't spoil the surprise -- take a look at the video below.

Jeopardy airs locally on WNEM-TV 5, weeknights at 7.
