Michigan Teen Earns State Honors for Distracted Driving Campaign – The Good News
Congratulations, Brooke Hinz!!!
Brooke is a junior at Mattawan High School. She's also the daughter of a Michigan state police inspector. She launched a campaign called Every Distraction Limits Reaction, which reached over a thousand students at her school.
She invited guest speakers, used posters and driving simulators to highlight how dangerous distracted driving can be to her fellow high schoolers. She had heard stories from her dad about teen drivers and states that he was a "huge help" during her campaign.
On Wednesday, she received an award from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Advisory Commission - the organization that addresses state traffic safety in the mitt. Brooke says it's an "honor."
