Michigan Mom Pays 19 Students’ Overdue Lunch Debts After Son Denied Food [VIDEO]
Immediately after 16-year-old Dominic Gant was given lunch at Dowagiac Union High School, his tray was taken away from because his school lunch account was overdrawn. The outstanding balance in Gant's account -- a mere $4.95.
“I was appalled that he was denied lunch and his lunch was taken out of his hands over $5,” Dominic's mom Amanda Keown, told Fox 8.
Frustrated that school policy could deny students a hot lunch, or in some cases any lunch, Keown immediately wrote a check to pay off the outstanding balance for every student a Union High School.
“I realize I didn’t have to do that but I don’t want another kid going through what my son went through,” said Keown.
