A Michigan man who found $27,000 on the ground near an ATM in Westland didn't hesitate before turning the money in.

George Condash found the cash container -- known as an ATM cassette -- which had been left behind by an armored security guard. Security footage shows Condash stopping to pick up the box outside the Westland Federal Credit Union.

“I drove right around here and it was sitting about right here,” Condash tells WDIV. “Well, first, I just thought it was trash. For some reason it hit me that, ‘Why don’t I just pick this up so no one else has to swerve around it?'"

The tag on the container erroneously stated that it contained $40,000. Condash joked with credit union employees, asking if there was a reward for returning all that money.

Condash did receive a reward for returning the cash, but he has not disclosed how much it is.

This news comes about a week after Howard Kirby from Owosso made national news for returning $43,000 that he found inside a used couch he had purchased.
