Michigan Residents Declare The Best Sesame Street Character
Nicely done, Michigan - you got this one right. Michigan residents were asked to declare their favorite Sesame Street character and it's neither a Republican nor a Democrat.
Chances are good excellent that your kids - and maybe even you - learned at least a few letters, numbers, and maybe even some social skills while planted in front of the tube watching the educational children's show.
Maybe you've even had a favorite Sesame Street Character for decades?
Celebrating 55 Years of Sesame Street
Sesame Street Day is Sunday, as November 10 marks the 55th anniversary of the day the iconic children's show made its television debut. To celebrate the anniversary, Coventry Direct crunched the data to determine each state's favorite resident of the fictional street in Manhattan.
Who is Michigan's Favorite Sesame Stree Character?
(Please, please, please, don't say Elmo...)
Fortunately, Michigan residents' favorite Sesame Street character is not Elmo. Certainly no offense, but as a parent of twins I got my fill of that cringy, high-pitched voice more than two decades ago and I still haven't recovered.
(I won't be moving to Washington DC or New Jersey anytime soon, as those regions did pick that little red dude as their fave.)
I think you'll approve of Michigan's choice. Grab a glass of milk and raise a toast to Cookie Monster - Michigan's most-beloved muppet. Who doesn't love a character dedicated to one of life's simplest joys, devouring cookies, right?
In fact, Cookie Monster is universally loved beyond the Great Lakes State as he emerges as the clear winner in 23 US states.
Coventry Direct has more on each of the show's beloved characters and the methodology used to determine each state's favorite character here.
