Meijer has agreed to pay a $2 million settlement, after the Consumer Product Safety Commission alleged charges that the retailer knowingly sold merchandise that had been recalled.

The CPSC says Meijer sold hundreds of recalled products through a third-party contractor. According to NBC-25, those items included Fisher-Price toddler tricycles, high chairs by Graco Children's Products, Hoover vacuums, and Lasko box fans.

The practice of selling or distributing products that have been recalled is against the law. Published reports say that in agreeing to the settlement, Meijer will neither admit to, nor deny the allegations.

Grand Rapids-based Meijer Inc. operates 200 stores, about half of which are in Michigan.
