Meijer Announces Plan to Close Pierson Rd. Location
Meijer has announced that it plans to close its store on Pierson Rd. in Mt. Morris Township.
Employees were informed this morning (2/25) that the store will close for good on May 22nd. The store, which opened in 1972, was the first Meijer store to open in the Flint area.
In a release provided to Mlive, the retailer says it remains committed to the Flint area.
"During the past several years, Meijer has invested more than $50 million in the Flint area," the release said. "This includes a major remodel to the Hill Road store in Flint in 2014, a new store in Swartz Creek in 2013 and a new store in Davison Township in 2008."
Meijer says it will attempt to help some employees relocate to other locations.
