A Michigan player just struck it rich, winning $3 million in Friday night’s Mega Millions drawing—enough to change their life forever. By matching all five white balls—and with the 3X multiplier—the Michigan player turned a $1 million prize into an astonishing $3 million windfall.
While the national jackpot was won by a player in Georgia, Michigan still celebrated big: one lucky ticket scored $3 million. The Mega Millions jackpot had been climbing since June, reaching $983 million before Friday’s drawing.
Where the Winning Mega Millsion Ticket Was Sold
The winning $3 million ticket was sold at a Marathon gas station at 4421 W. Centre Ave. in Portage. Michigan also saw several other big winners, including a $40,000 ticket sold at Sam's Amoco Service Center in Dearborn Heights and a $2,500 winning ticket at VG's in Fenton. Additional $2,000 prizes went to tickets sold in Detroit, Farmington, and Crystal Falls, along with several others purchased online.

According to Mega Millions, more than 1.1 million winning tickets with various prize amounts were sold. Could you be holding another winning ticket? The winning numbers drawn in Friday night's jackpot were 1, 8, 11, 12, and 57. The gold Mega Ball number was 7.
The $983 million prize is the eighth largest jackpot in the history of the Mega Millions game.
The lucky winners—both the jackpot winner from Georgia and the $3 million winner from Michigan—have not yet come forward. Lottery winners have one year from the date of the drawing to claim their winnings.
Mega Millions Game Changes
The Mega Millions game was overhauled in April of this year to increase the odds of winning larger jackpots. The price of a Mega Millions ticket was increased from $2 to $5.
