Smokers need not apply, according to a new policy put in place by McLaren Hospital. As of February 1st, McLaren will not hire people that smoke to work at any of its campuses. Current employees that smoke are grandfathered in.

Is it right?

I'm not saying I disagree with the policy. I think it makes a great deal of sense, especially for a health care provider.

However, I wonder where the line will be drawn. Do corporations have the right to reject applicants because they consume high fat, calorie-rich foods? How about those that engage in risky sexual behavior?
