McKenna Schumer’s Mom Surprised With $10K For Beauty Bar – The Good News [VIDEO]
It was all part of WNEM's Surprise Squad and anchor David Custer.
Most of us in Genesee County have been following McKenna Schumer's story - she's the 11-year-old girl from Grand Blanc who courageously fought a battle with cancer, but lost that battle in March.
During her treatments at Children's Hospital in Detroit, she lost her hair and her complexion changed color, so she decided to hide her flaws with make-up. Turns out, she really enjoyed it and wanted to share her love of make-up with other sick kids who were feeling self-conscious. Her quest was to open a "beauty bar" at the hospital.
Unfortunately, McKenna passed away before the beauty bar was finished, but her mom is committed to seeing her dream through. She's been collecting donations of make-up nonstop.
David Custer and the Surprise Squad at WNEM reached out to Younique Cosmetics for a donation, and let's just say that they REALLY came through - with $10,000 worth of make-up. And they surprised McKenna's mom with flowers, too.
Her beauty bar will be open on June 22nd. *tear*
