Grand Blanc Girl Fighting Cancer Creating ‘Beauty Bar’ for Patients – The Good News
You've probably heard of McKenna's Squad already, but now, she has a new opportunity to help others.
Our entire community became familiar with McKenna Schummer in 2016. At the time, she was an 11-year-old student at Grand Blanc schools who was fighting a rare form of bone cancer. The community rallied around her, helping her to celebrate her birthday and raising money for her medical treatments.
Now, two years later, McKenna is still battling cancer, but she's giving back - she's starting a beauty bar at Children's Hospital of Detroit for other cancer patients. She's been in-and-out of the hospital since she was diagnosed. She says that she wants to help other kids feel beautiful, even while they're sick.
A makeup drive was held on Friday at Identity Salon in Grand Blanc, which collected items for the beauty bar.
If you have anything to donate, you can do so at Grand Blanc Schools or directly to the Detroit Children's Hospital.
