He was reportedly trying to retrieve some belongings that he dropped while he was riding the roller coaster when he was struck and killed.

45-year-old James Young of East Canton, Ohio, was struck and killed yesterday by a roller coaster at Cedar Point. He was riding the Raptor when he lost some of his personal belongings. Upon exiting the ride, he jumped a restricted fence to retrieve his things and was killed.

“The city and police departments condolences go out to the family of this gentleman,” said Phil Frost, the Assistant Sandusky Police Chief. “No one else was injured that we know of, from what we`ve discovered so far the actual train hit Mr. Young.”

What a horrible way to go. But it's a reminder to obey all posted rules at any amusement park.
