Local Roads That Will Close For Repair Soon… Affecting Your Commute
Over 30 miles of roads and freeways right here in our neighborhood will be affected. You may want to take a peek.
MDOT has alotted $43 million dollars for road repair in Genesee County. Some of those repairs have already started. Here's the list:
Happening now:The Grand Blanc Road bridge over I-75 in Grand Blanc Township. Patching of the bridge deck, joint repair and painting will close one lane of I-75 during daylight hours. Double-lane closures are planned at night.
Starting next week: The $13.3 million I-75 project includes milling and resurfacing the highway from the I-475 junction to the Genesee-Oakland county line as well as bridge work in the areas of I-75 and Cook and Fenton roads. Up to three lanes of I-75 will close at night for the resurfacing work, which is scheduled to run from March until September.
Starting soon: MDOTs plans for I-69 include, includes temporary pavement repairs on the expressway from Dort Highway to M-15 and widening the shoulder on I-69 from Dort to Center -- both in anticipation of pavement reconstruction from Dort to Center in 2015. Also an I-69 freeway lighting upgrade from I-475 to Dort may happen this year.
Later this summer: The milling and resurfacing of 1.3 miles of Saginaw Road in Grand Blanc Township -- could also be delayed to accommodate Back to the Bricks. The exact area is Saginaw Road from Hill Road to Maple Avenue.
Also this summer: Richfield Road is also slated to get more than $2 million in upgrades but in two separate projects: one from Genesee to Belsay roads and another from Irish Road to Victoria Station.
One last bridge project:Replacement of the Reid Road bridge over Swartz Creek in Mundy Township. Concerns...The bridge replacement will shut down all traffic, including emergency vehicles, creating a dead end for traffic in both directions. Good luck.
I think that about covers it...happy motoring. Think about how nice the roads will be when their done.
