Kid Rock’s Father Bill Ritchie Dead at 82
The father of Detroit rock legend Kid Rock, Bill Ritchie, has passed away after a long battle with prostate cancer. Mr. Ritchie was 82.

Well Known as a Detroit Auto Dealer
Bill Ritchie was the well-renowned owner of Crest Lincoln-Mercury in Sterling Heights, and according to the Detroit Free Press, was a revered member of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA). He's also credited with being the organization's regional representative to the National Automobile Dealers Association.
Rod Alberts currently serves as the executive director of the Detroit Auto Dealers Association and praised Ritchie for his gregariousness, saying that his son Kid Rock inherited that trait from his father.
"He was spellbinding in a meeting. He was an inspirational speaker. His son inherited that," Alberts said. "I thought the world of him."
Kid Rock Shared the News on Social Media
Kid Rock, whose birth name is Robert Ritchie, shared the news with followers on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.
"My Dad, Bill Ritchie Sr, moved on to be with Jesus yesterday. He was an incredible father, grandfather, great grandfather, and so much more, none shy of being quite the character!" he said. "Thank you for your condolences in advance. God Bless you and I love you Pop!"
According to the Free Press, Mr. Ritchie was a close advisor to his son and helped guide his son as his career as a musician began to flourish.
Bill Ritchie was diagnosed with prostate cancer 14 years ago and passed away peacefully at his home in Florida.
