A new club at Kettering University hopes to start a conversation about the possibility of allowing firearms on campus.

Kettering Students for Concealed Carry became an official university club on August 1st according to WNEM. The group's vice president Kaity Huff says college campuses are usually safer than other public places, but "anything can happen."

This isn't the first time this topic has been brought up at Kettering. It's been discussed sine 2011, but the group says becoming an official club will allow them to reach more students.

State law prohibits the carrying of concealed weapons in classrooms and dorms. Kettering, like most other schools, extends that ban across campus.

The group is planning an event next week where they will walk around campus wearing empty holsters and talk about topic.

What do you think about it?
