Justin Bieber Brings Mom on Stage After Winning Artist of the Year at 2012 American Music Awards
The American Music Awards confirmed what millions of Beliebers already thought: Justin Bieber is the Artist of the Year for 2012.
The win was not a huge surprise, since the awards are fan-voted and the Beliebers are unstoppable right now. Bieber had already won Favorite Pop/Rock Album and Favorite Pop/Rock Male Artist, so winning the final award made Bieber the big winner of the night.
Bieber gave his mom a huge hug and spun her around, then grabbed her hand and led her to the stage, seemingly against her will. "I can't even think, I'm just so blown away right now," he said, beginning what was a somewhat incoherent acceptance speech. We understand his nervousness, though — this was a huge award and he seemed to be quite emotional after hearing his name.
With mom Pattie at his side, the singer told his fans, "It's hard growing up with everyone watching me, and I want to say that as long as you guys keep believing in me, I'm gonna always make you proud."
Bieber won Artist of the Year in 2010, which means that he joins Taylor Swift as the only two-time winners of the award. He beat out fellow nominees Drake, Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Rihanna.
