Heads up, Fenton drivers, starting Monday, July 7th, 2025, the Genesee County Road Commission will begin the North Road Bridge reconstruction project, just north of Ponemah Drive.

This is not going to be a quick job; the road will not reopen until October 2025. Yes, you read that right.

If you are trying to get to the south side of the project, your best bet is to take Torrey Road and hop on the roundabout to North Road. If you're heading north, take Torrey to Lahring, then loop back around to North Road from there.

It feels like the construction will be more of a hassle for drivers heading north, but no matter which direction you're coming from, it’s definitely going to take some adjusting. Either way, you will figure it out.

While Michigan experiences four seasons, it often feels like just two: winter and construction season. As soon as the snow melts, the orange barrels come out, and detours begin.

Eventually, we’ll all get used to taking the detours, but let’s be real - at first, most of us are going to completely forget until we are staring at the big ‘Road Closed’ sign and have to turn around. It’s just how it goes.

I have experienced this several times during the current Baldwin Road construction in Grand Blanc Township. According to the Genesee County Road Commission, the Baldwin Rd. project is expected to be finished soon.

Just in time for the first snowfall.
