Two Michigan Towns Deemed ‘Just Like Europe’
Great news for any Michiganders dying to travel to Europe but are balling on a budget! Not one, but two of our state's beautiful towns were deemed 'just like Europe' by Country Living.
Country Living put together a list of the top 50 towns in the USA that people should visit that allegedly look 'just like Europe.'
On that list in Michigan? No shockers here:
Holland, MI
The name of this town pretty much says it all: it’s like a little piece of the Netherlands right here in the U.S. Established by Dutch settlers way back in 1847, it has a strong European vibe. One of the coolest things to see is the DeZwaan Windmill. It’s the only genuine, working Dutch windmill in the entire country, making it a unique spot for anyone interested in Dutch culture and history. Oh, and don't forget to visit during tulip season!
Frankenmuth, MI
This one was first on the list! Founded in 1845 as a Bavarian mission colony for Lutherans, this charming village has earned the nickname "Michigan’s Little Bavaria."
It’s not just about the picturesque streets and authentic German feel—Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store, is a major draw. You can explore over 50,000 holiday items year-round, from dazzling ornaments to festive decorations.

The town also hosts fun events like the Frankenmuth Oktoberfest, where you can enjoy German beer, bratwurst, and lively polka music. It’s a place where every season feels a little bit like a holiday, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot!
