Is Popeyes Chicken Still Opening In Lapeer?

Plans for a Popeye's Louisiana Kitchen opening in Lapeer, Michigan were announced in 2021. Fast forward to 2023, and the popular chicken restaurant has not opened in Lapeer County.

In December of 2022, The County Press reported that plans were approved to build the fast food restaurant on M-24 in Lapeer. Since then, there has been an issue with MDOT over the driveway location.

Social media continues to buzz over when and if Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is going to open in Lapeer. As with anything on social media, not everyone can agree. You know the drill, some people are excited over it, and some not so much.

Nonetheless, my question stands - is this project still happening?

On the topic of new restaurants, it has been confirmed that Woodchips BBQ owner of Lapeer, Patrick Hingst, is opening a new restaurant. Hingst purchased the former Side Tracks Bar & Grill location on Lake Neppesing Road in Lapeer.

The new restaurant is named Lightning Rounds. Renovations are underway and we will certainly keep you posted as more details become available in terms of an opening date and more.
