A New HopCat Location Is Coming to Great Lakes Crossing
While it feels like restaurants and businesses in Michigan are closing around us all the time, it is honestly refreshing to see at least one spot doing the opposite and expanding.
A New HopCat Location Is Coming to Great Lakes Crossing
That spot is HopCat, which is officially moving into Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills. And this isn’t just rumor mill stuff. Construction is already happening, and the mall has confirmed it’s coming soon.

If you’ve ever been to HopCat, you already get the hype. It opened in Grand Rapids in 2008 and didn’t take long to become a go-to spot for craft beer fans. That said, it’s got a lot more going on than just a solid lineup of cold beer.
What to Expect From the New HopCat Location
The food at HopCat is solid, and let’s be honest, most people immediately think about the Cosmic Fries. Crack fries, cheese sauce, and that seasoning is the bomb. I’ve only been to the Detroit location, but that’s definitely what stuck with me. Beyond the fries, there’s a big beer list, burgers, sandwiches, and more.
How Many HopCat Locations Are in Michigan?
HopCat now has more than a dozen locations across Michigan, along with restaurants in a handful of other states.

The Great Lakes Crossing HopCat is expected to move into the former Bar Louie space. And yeah, I can’t help but say it, I really wish they’d do the same thing with the old Bar Louie spot in Flint Township. That place has been sitting there forever. Doesn’t feel like that’s happening anytime soon, though.
When Is HopCat at Great Lakes Crossing Opening?
There’s no official opening date yet. All we know for sure is that construction is underway and the mall has confirmed it’s happening.
