Public Information Meeting: Proposed Genesee County Roundabout Project
Residents, business owners, and other interested members of the public are encouraged to attend an upcoming informational meeting to learn about and provide input on a proposed roundabout project currently under consideration in Genesee County.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for community members to hear from project planners, ask questions, and share feedback on the potential design, location, and impacts of the proposed traffic improvement.
According to a Genesee County Road Commission press release, the proposed roundabout at Fenton Road and Baldwin Road is still under design.
The public meeting will take place on Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Mundy Township Hall located at 3478 Mundy Avenue in Swartz Creek.
The meeting will be an informal open house with proposed maps, plans, costs and study reports available for public review.
I remember the first time I encountered a roundabout while driving in Oakland County, I was completely confused. I ended up circling it a few times, thinking, 'What in the world is this?' Looking back, it seems silly now, but at the time, I really did not know how to navigate it.
Fast forward to 2025, and roundabouts have become commonplace in many communities. While most drivers have adapted to using them, there are still plenty of people who struggle with one crucial concept: the word 'yield'. Be honest, how many of us have felt frustrated when a driver rushes straight through a roundabout without slowing down or yielding to vehicles that are already in the circle?
Yeah, me too.
