Emergency: Genesee County Animal Control Needs Help After Taking in 61 Dogs
And just like that, everything changed at Genesee County Animal Control. Literally. After being forced to take in 61 dogs tied to a major animal cruelty investigation earlier this week, kennel space disappeared fast. The shelter is now at capacity, and they need help.
Now, they’re asking the community to step up and help at an emergency pop-up dog adoption event this weekend.

Adoptions are $10 per dog, with a $10 license fee for Genesee County residents. You also don’t have to live here to help. Dogs can be adopted by people from any county or even out of state.
This isn’t just about the dogs from this case. To make room and care for them properly, dogs already at the shelter need homes too. That’s why adoptions right now matter so much.
If adopting has been on your mind at all, this is the weekend to do it.
