A Detroit teen thought she just had a bad stomachache on Thanksgiving, but it turned out to be something completely different.

Sixteen-year-old Peyton Peoples says she had no idea she was pregnant until her water suddenly broke while she was home alone. Within minutes, she delivered a baby in the bathroom right into the toilet. Imagine the shock if she truly had no idea she was pregnant. Wow.

And yes, you are probably wondering how someone could not know they were pregnant. As wild as it sounds, it does happen from time to time.

After giving birth, Peyton did the only thing a panicked teenager would do in 2025. She pulled up TikTok and searched how to cut an umbilical cord. According to Fox 2 Detroit, she cleaned the baby up, but panic really set in once she realized what had just happened. Instead of calling her mom or being honest, she made up a story and claimed someone had left the newborn on their porch.

Her mom completely believed her, and honestly, why wouldn’t she? She had no idea her daughter was pregnant either. She even went on social media asking why anyone would leave a newborn on her doorstep. When police and paramedics arrived, they were not convinced by the story. Peyton was taken to the hospital, the truth came out, and she finally admitted the baby, named Paxton, was hers.

And honestly, the reason she lied is heartbreaking. She says she didn’t want to put more stress on her mom, who’s raising four kids alone after Peyton’s dad was killed in a robbery earlier this year. Still, her mom’s only reaction after the confession was, “A baby is always a blessing.”

People are already stepping in to help Peyton and Paxton through a GoFundMe.

Crazy, right?
