2025 Michigan Car-Deer Accidents: 83-County Breakdown
Michigan Traffic Crash Facts has released its 2025 data that chronicles car accidents across the state, including insights into which county has the most fur on its collective front bumper. Since 2022, Kent County has reigned as the Michigan epicenter of vehicle-whitetail collisions, but based on 2025 data, there's a new titleholder this year.

According to Michigan Traffic Crash Facts, there were 58,271 vehicle accidents involving deer in 2025, with 13 fatalities. That number is down slightly from 58,324 in 2024, which saw 14 fatalities.
Michigan Deer Crashes Are Still a Very Big Problem
Nearly 59,000 deer-involved traffic accidents in one year. That works out to more than 160 every single day. Somewhere in Michigan, while you're deciding what to have for dinner, somebody is probably introducing a front grille to a whitetail.
And while fall gets most of the attention, deer don't carry or pay attention to calendars. Crashes can happen year-round, especially around dawn and dusk when deer are moving, and visibility is already working against drivers.
Which Michigan County Had the Most Deer Crashes?
That answer has changed. Kent County had been sitting on top of Michigan's deer-crash rankings for three straight years, but the 2025 numbers shuffled the deck. Among this year's contenders for the top spot are Genesee, Jackson, and Oakland counties.
