When the deputy got out of his patrol vehicle and approached he spotted the baby alligator in a shallow puddle near the side of the road.
As he went to go to pick up the baby alligator it started to scurry away towards the center of the road.
Then the baby alligator turned around and started heading back to the side of the road and into the longer grass.
That's when the deputy was able to lean down and grab the baby alligator
This runaway baby alligator was eventually returned to its owners who had reported it missing earlier in the day.
If you're wondering like I was "Can you own an alligator in Michigan"? the answer might surprise you that it is in fact legal, but some cities do have bans on having them as pets.
