The team of firefighters and volunteers knocked on over 200 doors over the weekend to make sure that residents have working smoke detectors.

The Imlay City Fire Department returned to the scene of one of the areas most devastating fires in recent memory - Maple Grove Park.

The park is where a fire killed four children from one family and badly injured the parents a couple of months ago. The fire was likely caused by the furnace, according to officials, and the mobile home had no working smoke detectors.

Firefighters and volunteers canvased the mobile home park this past weekend with smoke detectors that were provided from community and state donations and installed in homes for free.

Thank you to the fire department AND the volunteers who were part of this! You've saved lives, no doubt.
