Jones Around the World, a world travel and destination site, recently compiled a list of the "20 Best Airbnbs in Michigan for a Great Lakes Getaway". The list is described as offering travelers,
"The best in fascinating industrial centers, lakefront communities, and woodsy retreats with each offering its own unique charm and a distinct vibe that distinguishes them from the rest."
The list includes locations in Lansing, a Saugatuck lakeside cottage, and even a downtown Detroit flat, but one particular selection is all about Flint.
The historical Airbnb is located in the Mott Park Neighborhood as part of the iconic home designed by Norbert Dougherty. Dougherty was hired by General Motors to develop the neighborhood, for his family to live in. The original 1926 loft above the garage is the perfect little hideaway.
Charming and quaint, the space is ideal for 2 guests with one bed and a cozy sitting area. There is a small kitchen area as well as a vintage-style bathroom. Close to parks and the downtown cultural area, it's a perfect spot for a night or two away. Fancy it's not, but a piece of Flint history to take in for sure.
