Weddings are expensive. Heath Bumpous is well aware of this. The Texas man -- who was supposed to get married on Saturday (10/5) -- robbed a bank on Friday in order to pay for his fiancee's ring and the reception hall.

The 36-year-old claimed he had a gun and demanded cash at the Citizens State Bank in Groveton, TX, about 120 miles north of Houston. He made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

His wife-to-be saw pictures of him that were captured on surveillance equipment. She immediately contacted him and was eventually able to convince the man to surrender.

Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace gave the play-by-play on a Facebook Live video.

“He basically stated he was getting married tomorrow, he didn't have enough money for the wedding ring he wanted to buy and he needed to pay for the wedding venue,” Wallace said.

Bumpous and his fiancee did not walk down the aisle on Saturday.
