Authorities in Grand Traverse County have arrested a 34-year-old man accused of committing one of the most disturbing crimes imaginable — fathering a child with his own teenage daughter.

DNA Evidence Confirms Paternity

According to a report from The Ticker, the man faces a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct after investigators say DNA evidence linked him to the baby born to his 14-year-old daughter earlier this year. He was taken into custody this week and is being held in the Grand Traverse County Jail.

CPS Alert Sparked Investigation in May

The case first came to light in May when Child Protective Services alerted the sheriff’s department to a possible sexual assault. The report followed the teen’s unexpected childbirth, which immediately prompted concern and an investigation. At the time, authorities initially focused on another potential suspect. But after forensic analysis by the Michigan State Police Crime Lab, DNA results reportedly pointed to the girl’s biological father.
