Grand Rapids Athlete Going to Special Olympics International Game

Can't wait to cheer on Nick from the mitt!

21-year-old Nick Minnema is one of three athletes from Michigan that will be headed to Abu Dhabi and Dubai for the Special Olympics International World Games. It's the first ever of the games to be hosted in the middle east, and about 7,000 athletes will be traveling there to compete next month.

Nick is competing in shot put and track. The cost of the trip is about $3,000, which Special Olympics pays for (through events like the Polar Plunge - THANK YOU for donating to our team!), but Nick is trying to help raise money for other people to attend. The GoFundMe page can be found here.
