Georgia Teacher Accused of Putting Autistic Child in Trash Can [VIDEO]

Let me preface this by saying that we are parents of a child on the spectrum. Our son is high-functioning, and his meltdowns have subsided dramatically. However, we know what it's like. This has happened to us before.

A special needs teacher in Georgia is accused of putting a second grader in a trash can after he wouldn't stop screaming. He came in from recess and was very upset, and the teacher made a comparison to Oscar the Grouch. She then, in front of witnesses, put him in a trash can.

Again, as parents of an autistic child, we can verify that comparisons ARE important. Sometimes, it's the easiest way to communicate a point. However, she had to know that putting him a trash can was not the right way to handle it.
