Flint area runners will have ample opportunities to stretch their legs this weekend.  Four different races between Saturday and Sunday.  I plan to run 3 of the 4 (two are contested simultaneously, otherwise...).

In order of their appearance, here are the races and pertinent information in case you'd like to participate in some of them.

Davison Great Pumpkin 5k run/walk.  9:15 a.m. Saturday, October 13.  Races start/finish at Davison High School's Cardinal Stadium.  www.greatpumpkinrun.net

The Zombie Dash 5.75k trail run at the Holly State Recreation Area.  Night run/walk on trails with the added element of dodging zombies while you run.  Registration is closed, but there will be another Zombie Dash in a couple of weeks in downtown Grand Rapids.  Could be worthy of a "Zombie Road Trip."  www.thezombiedash.com

Sunday, October 14:

Grand Blanc K9 Pursuit 5k and 2k Fun Run.  Creasey Bicentennial Park.  9:45 a.m.  Trails, roads and paved bike path.  Race is the Eagle Scout project for Morgan Breneiser.  He is hoping to promote healthy activities and raise some money for the Grand Blanc Township Police K9 Unit.  2k Fun Run you are encouraged to run or walk with your dog (on a leash, please). Park is located at 1505 E. Grand Blanc Road.

Hidden Forest Trail Run at Independence Oaks County Park in Clarkston.  On Sashabaw Road, just a little north of Pine Knob (DTE Music Theater).  2.5, 5.5 and 8.5 mile races.  Loop course around a scenic lake which varies a bit on each loop.  The hills get bigger on each successive loop.  All races start at 9:30 a.m.  Online registration is closed, but you can still sign up on race morning or at Bauman's on Hill Road.  www.riverbendstriders.com

The weather may not be perfect this weekend, but these races are all short enough that you can limit your exposure to cold/rainy conditions.  I hope to see you on the roads/trails this weekend!
