Midway through the season, the Flint Powers High School football team had lost four of its first six games and seemingly wasn’t going anywhere. Now, with a seven-game winning streak, the Chargers are going to Detroit Ford’s Field to play for the state football championship. Powers faces Lansing Catholic at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the Division 5 title game. Here are some things you should know about the contest…

The Chargers and Cougars played on Labor Day weekend and even though Lansing Catholic won that one, both coaches agree that the Chargers have improved a great deal since then. If you go to the game, be sure to wear orange. You can buy tickets at the gate for $10; follow this link to know what you are allowed to bring inside Ford Field.

If you aren’t going to the game, you should listen to the broadcast on CARS 108’s sister station, FLINT’S NEWS TALK, 1470 WFNT.  During the game, you will be able to get live statistical updates here.
