Ontario Hockey League Commissioner David Branch made the announcement at the conclusion of the investigation.

Christensen's Remarks Violated OHL's Abuse / Diversity Policy

The OHL made the announcement on its website, stating that remarks made by Christensen violated the league's Harassment and Abuse / Diversity Policy. No further explanation of any statements made by Christensen is available at this time.

The investigation began after an allegation was brought forward via the OHL's player communications system, according to the OHL.

TSN reports that Christensen had been suspended by the league on March 5, after complaints were reported on February 20 of this year.

Christensen's History:

Christensen, a 67-year-old native of Minnesota, has previously served in various capacities for other teams, including the head coach of the US entry at the 1988 World Junio Hockey Championships, assistant coach for Michigan State University, and head coach of ECHL clubs Tallahassee Tiger Sharks and Miami Matadors.

From the OHL's Diversity Policy:

The Ontario Hockey League cares about diversity within its environment.  The OHL values all of its players, staff, and officials and is committed to providing a place where all players and personnel are treated with respect.  Not only does this mean that the League strives for an environment that is free from unequal treatment on the basis of race, age, gender, creed, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, marital status or disability – it also means that we strive for an environment where we value and benefit from the distinctiveness of each other.
